Renovation of Foxwood Apartments
(formerly known as DEAN HOLMES PLAZA)
Hermiston, Oregon
Phase I building at left (nearing completion) and
unrenovated Phase II at right.
This 60 unit apartment project was built in the mid-1970's as low-income family rental housing by the Housing Authority of Umatilla County. The original flat roofs had been unsatisfactory and after twenty-five years windows, doors, siding, interior finishes, and other systems needed replacement.

Working closely with Housing Authority staff, Andrews Architects inspected each apartment and inventoried items to be repaired or replaced. Then the architects designed new exterior stairways and new gabled roofs for the nine apartment buildings. New windows and new siding were specified, as well as interior finishes, doors, fixtures, and appliances as needed.

Three apartments were remodeled to be handicapped accessible.
